The 2012 election was the most expensive election in history, with outside organizations spending nearly $1.4 billion buying television ads and influencing the political process. To understand the impact of these groups, the Sunlight Foundation calculated the percent of their spending in an election that helped winning candidates and called that percentage return on investment (ROI). In this webinar, we will show you how to dive into the data from our tool Follow the Unlimited Money and take a granular look on the story behind the percents. We will also debut our congressional ROI data set, to look at how groups did in hotly contested congressional races, not including the large amounts these outside groups spent on presidential races.
